**EXAM UPDATE**

Dear Parents and Students,

As you are aware, buses are cancelled again today. High school exams will now start on Monday, January 28. The exam schedule is as follows:

 

Period 1 / Week 1 exam Monday, January 28 MORNING
Period 2/ Week 1 exam Tuesday, January 29 MORNING
Period 3/ Week 1 exam Wednesday, January 30 MORNING
Period 4/ Week 1 exam Wednesday, January 30 AFTERNOON
PD DAY Thursday, January 31
First day of Semester 2 Friday, February 1

 

Students are encouraged to check their class webpages and email where applicable for exam reviews and other course content to assist with exam preparation.

Tomorrow, Friday, January 25, we will run the Period 4 Culminating activity in the afternoon with shortened periods in the morning to allow students the opportunity to see their teachers for final course review.

Break-9:03-9:08am
Period 2- 9:08-9:56am
Break- 9:56-10:01am
Period 3- 10:01-10:49am

Lunch 10:49-11:41am

URGENT** Revised Culminating Schedule – Bus Cancellations

Hello Parents and Students,

As you are aware, buses are cancelled again today. This affects period 4 culminating. Adjustments will be made to our schedule on Wednesday to allow for a longer period 4.
We will divide the morning into three equal periods (48 minutes) with a five-minute break between these periods. Period 4 will last all afternoon with the usual break at 12:53. Period 4 teachers will adjust culminating expectations to allow time for students to thoroughly complete task and for an exam review.

Period 1 – 8:15-9:03am
Break-9:03-9:08am
Period 2- 9:08-9:56am
Break- 9:56-10:01am
Period 3- 10:01-10:49am

While at home, students are encouraged to use their time to study and review. When possible teachers have posted their exam reviews. In the case buses are cancelled tomorrow, a new plan will be communicated. Please note the school is open and students can attend to complete work.

Chocolate Sales – Music Department

Purchase a chocolate item at $5 with a chance to win the 2018-2019 homemade music department quilt.  Various chocolates to choose from, see School Cash Online for more info.   You can purchase as often as you wish while supplies last.  For every item purchased, your child’s name will be put into a draw to win the quilt.  Your child will receive the purchased chocolate item before the end of the week.  Draw date is Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Spring Concert.  Best of luck to all!


Cocoa and Cram – Study help for grade 9’s

Grade 9 students:  Get ready for your exams by getting help from Link Crew Leaders.  Be smart and study early.  Experts on all your exam subjects will be there to help you.  Monday, January 21 and Wednesday, January 23 from 2:15pm to 4:00pm in room 140. Free cocoa and snacks.


Exam Prep Package

This week, all grade 9 students will have a class visit from the Guidance Department.  They will be reviewing what to expect during exam time and how to prepare for exams.  Students each received a booklet.  See link below for electronic form.  Happy Studying!

High School Announcements:

Summer Job Opportunity

  • There is a summer job opportunity in Carleton Place for graduating students.  This job is in an office setting and includes mainly data entry as well as answering and directing client calls.  The job requires someone who is personable and independent.  The pay is $14 per hour and will be about 30 hours per week.  There are two positions available.  Drop off your resume to Student Services if you are interested.

Food Drive

  • The Spring Food Drive for the Lanark County Food Bank continues today. Please bring your contributions to your homeroom.  Please remember to bring in non-perishable food items to your P1 class to support this week’s Food Drive.  The class with the most items will win a free dress casual day.

Volunteers Needed

  • The Almonte Lions club is looking for volunteers to help with a fundraiser on Saturday, May 4th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Please come to student services if interested.

Walk for Migrants

  • The second and final Walk for Migrants is today at lunch. Meet at 11:00 in the front foyer.
