Did you know that ALL concussions are serious? Did you know that you cannot see a concussion? If you bump your head, or know of a friend who has, it is very important to SPEAK UP! Tell a parent/guardian, teacher, or coach so that they can make sure you get the proper care. Let us make sure that on, Wednesday September 29, we honor Rowan Stringer in our schools by having discussions about concussions; their signs/symptoms and possible effects because the more we know about concussions, the more we will be able to prevent serious injuries related to concussions.

  • Today, all students in CDSBEO and across Ontario, will commemorate Rowan’s Law Day. We dedicate today to having conversations centered around concussions. It is important that we are having these conversations at school because children and teens are at the greatest risk of experiencing a concussion. Please take time today to learn about the signs/symptoms of concussions, what to do if you think you have a concussion, and what steps you need to follow, after being diagnosed with a concussion, to ensure that you give your head the care and time it needs to heal. Let us continue to create awareness around concussions so that we can help students who play sports or students who actively play with their friends learn about how to prevent concussions so that these students can continue to enjoy doing the activities they love.
