Outstanding Warriors

September
 
The Outstanding Warriors for the month of September are Abbie Haines and Isabel Lowry.  Abbie and Isabel paddle with the Carleton Place Canoe Club.  They both traveled to Poznan, Poland at the beginning of September to compete at the Olympic Hopes International Regatta to represent Canada.  Abbie earned 4 medals and Isabel earned 2 medals and a 4th and 7th place finish.  These two students had incredible performances while at this event.  Abbie and Isabel also made history at regatta – they both competed in the Women’s I-C4 200m and 500m races.  This was the first time this event was held at the Olympic Hopes regatta and racing to a gold medal, they won, putting Canada in the history books.   Congratulations to Abbie and Isabel.  Thank you for your dedication and hard work and showing that great Warrior spirit! 

October

 

The Outstanding Warrior for the month of October is Grade 12 student Anabelle Latreille.  Anabelle is an advocate and supporter of Indigenous Issues.  She was a contributor to a video for the Downey Wenjack Fund that discussed the importance of teaching young children about residential schools.  It is through contributions like this from Anabelle, that allow us to continue to learn and engage in Reconciliation.  Anabelle also supports Inuit makers who are trying to expand their businesses through online platforms.  Anabelle has also provided support for other students, helping them with class work and creating a positive small group learning environment.

 

Congratulations to Anabelle.  Thank you for your dedication and hard work and showing that great Warrior spirit!

 

 

November

 

The Outstanding Warrior for the month of November is Grade 12 student Lachlan Faraday. Lachlan made the Canadian Jr National Team in Kayak Cross and competed at the Jr World Championships in Krakow, Poland this past August. Also in August, at the Canadian National Championships in Minden, Ontario, Lachlan brought home two bronze medals for Jr and Sr K1 Slalom kayaking. Lachlan was also named a top 100 finalist and competed for a top 30 spot at the RBC Training Ground finals this past weekend.  While results are not known yet, we are keeping our fingers crossed for you!

December
 
The Outstanding Warrior for the month of December is Grade 7 student Sofia McGarvey. Sofia competes in Equestrian Vaulting which is the discipline of gymnastics, acrobatics and dance on the back of a moving horse. This past fall, Sofia competed in her first international equestrian event which was held in BC. Sofia is the first in Ontario to have competed Internationally with Vaulting, and she became the youngest Children’s Champion 2 star in Ontario. Sofia will continue to train in hopes of making the Junior World Championships in a few years.

January
 

The Outstanding Warrior for the month of January is Grade 12 student Evan Schincariol. Evan is being recognized for his mentorship and support of the Jr. Band members.  Evan volunteers his time after school providing small group instruction to students learning brass instruments.  Jr Band members are experiencing success more quickly from the mentorship and the music program is very thankful for his dedication and expertise.

February
 

The Outstanding Warrior for the month of February is Grade 12 student Savannah Rouselle. Savannah is being recognized for her kindness, generosity and true desire to be the best version of herself.  Savannah displays positivity and the true warrior spirit. She creates art daily in classrooms and around the school. She participates in open gym regularly and is an engaged member of our school community. Savannah is kind to everyone she meets in the hallways, checking in on peers and always welcoming.   

 

Congratulations to Savannah.  Thank you for your dedication and hard work and showing that great Warrior spirit!
