Outstanding Warriors

September

The Outstanding Warriors for the month of September are Abbie Haines and Isabel Lowry.  Abbie and Isabel paddle with the Carleton Place Canoe Club.  They both traveled to Poznan, Poland at the beginning of September to compete at the Olympic Hopes International Regatta to represent Canada.  Abbie earned 4 medals and Isabel earned 2 medals and a 4th and 7th place finish.  These two students had incredible performances while at this event.  Abbie and Isabel also made history at regatta – they both competed in the Women’s I-C4 200m and 500m races.  This was the first time this event was held at the Olympic Hopes regatta and racing to a gold medal, they won, putting Canada in the history books.   Congratulations to Abbie and Isabel.  Thank you for your dedication and hard work and showing that great Warrior spirit!

It is time to celebrate our October Outstanding Warrior!

The Outstanding Warrior for the month of October is Grade 12 student Anabelle Latreille.  Anabelle is an advocate and supporter of Indigenous Issues.  She was a contributor to a video for the Downey Wenjack Fund that discussed the importance of teaching young children about residential schools.  It is through contributions like this from Anabelle, that allow us to continue to learn and engage in Reconciliation.  Anabelle also supports Inuit makers who are trying to expand their businesses through online platforms.  Anabelle has also provided support for other students, helping them with class work and creating a positive small group learning environment.

Congratulations to Anabelle.  Thank you for your dedication and hard work and showing that great Warrior spirit!
